The New Jersey Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse provides the funding for city initiatives to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse. Public awareness is the core function of the Port Republic Municipal Alliance. Working with the local government, schools, businesses and volunteers in our community, we provide effective drug, alcohol, tobacco and prevention programs, using grant money tailored to meet Port Republic’s specific, current prevention needs amongst youth and adults. Drug overdoses (particularly from heroin and other opiates) and prescription drug abuse are increasing. Raising awareness and educating the public about alcoholism and drug abuse is key in preventing it.
